Performances

Melaku Belay and me started to actively work together in 2013 when we did our first production called Meeting. Taking place in Addis Ababa Ethiopia in collaboration with Norwegian choreographer Magnhild Fossum and masinqo virtuoso Endris Hassen, it was a first attempt to do an interdisciplinary performance.

Since then we developed another interdisciplinary trial called Fano in 2014, this time with the young and talented Dawit Lensa on masinqo. In this performance we integrated more of the disharmonious relation between tradition and modernity. The city of Addis Ababa stood at the foot of a very steep development curve in 2013 which was and still is hard to digest for its inhabitants.

Our third performance dating back from 2016 was established in a more reduced form. Melaku as a dancer and me as a musician were taking elements of our first two trial performances and incorporated them into "CLASHES & CROSSFADES - metropolic moments". We staged it a couple of times in Addis Ababa and in Switzerland. Until now this was the most worked out version in terms of dramaturgy and form.
